How it started
Founded in 1996 ascNefertiti Beauty Academy originally consisted of 3 schools. Three Beauty Therapists decided to join forces following their achievement of iTEC Honours. The school was run by Maria Bromley from its inception until mid-2018, during which time she trained many students in various therapies; many of whom in turn have become quite successful business owners themselves.
Jessica Vella, a former Nefertiti student, was then appointed as the new proprietor and principal of the school. Ms Vella is a qualified INFA aesthetician, iTEC therapist and qualified iTEC tutor. Jessica has, from a young age, invested in the Beauty industry, in fact this has always been her profession of choice. Getting her first qualification at the tender age of 17, she has risen to all opportunities and has since obtained a number of qualifications as well as opened her own beauty salon, Kallidora Health & Beauty Salon in Rabat. Most of the courses offered at the Academy taught by herself and backed by the experience she holds.
Our Success
Since its humble beginning in 1996, now, Kallidora Beauty Academy has continued to grow by continuously updating the quality and the list of courses it offers. The school is fully equipped with all requirements as stipulated by The International Therapy Examination Council (ITEC) and The Malta Education Board. Most qualifications offered are approved both locally and abroad. At Kallidora Beauty Academy we pride ourselves in having small class sizes with a maximum of 10 students per class so one will always experience high quality learning with emphasis on one-on-one instruction.
We strive to equip its students with the latest knowledge and techniques; students are encouraged to integrate their individuality into their skills thus achieving their highest possible potential. Our tutors are working professionals who bring their very own experiences into the teaching. Jessica - Founder & Director
Expert-led education shaped by experience, depth of knowledge, and a supportive approach
Jessica Vella is the Director and Owner of Kallidora Academy, with over 15 years of experience across the beauty & massage industry. Her journey began as a student at the academy itself, where she trained in beauty therapy before expanding her expertise into advanced beauty & massagetreatments and complementary therapies.
Early in her career, Jessica established Kallidora Salon, which she continues to lead today. She later went on to take over the academy – formerly known as Nefertiti Beauty Academy – bringing a fresh vision while maintaining its strong foundation.
Jessica initially taught the full range of courses and now focuses mainly on theoretical training, while also supporting selected practical sessions, overseeing continuous internal assessment, and ensuring the smooth and consistent delivery of all courses.
Known for her warm and approachable nature, Jessica is often described by students as kind, supportive, and inspiring, with a deep passion for the industry. She creates a structured yet supportive environment where students feel supported, confident, and well-prepared for their professional careers.
Maxine – Beauty Tutor
A calm and supportive approach to developing confident, skilled therapists
Maxine is a Beauty Tutor at Kallidora Academy and a former student of the academy, now an integral part of the team.
She is qualified in beauty therapy and advanced make-up, with strong practical experience across a wide range of treatments and consistent hands-on work with clients. She also contributes to maintaining the smooth day-to-day operations within Kallidora Salon.
Maxine teaches the practical components of the Beauty Specialist Diploma, as well as individual certification units, helping students build confidence, precision, and strong professional standards.
Known for her calm and gentle nature, she creates a supportive learning environment. Students particularly appreciate her patience, clear guidance, and approachable teaching style.
Lorna – Sports Massage Tutor
A hands-on, results-driven approach to advanced sports massage training
Lorna is a Sports Massage Tutor at Kallidora Academy and a former student of the academy. She is qualified in holistic and sports massage, as well as personal training and nutrition, with sports massage as her main area of expertise.
She is also an active powerlifting athlete, having competed internationally and achieved strong results, as well as holding national records in both squat and deadlift.
Alongside this, she works closely with athletes, combining her roles as a personal trainer and sports massage therapist to support performance, recovery, and injury prevention.
Lorna brings a hands-on, engaging, and practical approach to her teaching, helping students build confidence and real-world skills.
Katarina – Holistic Massage Tutor
Dynamic, engaging teaching with a strong focus on practical skill and technique
Katarina is the Holistic Massage Tutor at Kallidora Academy and a former student of the academy. She is qualified in beauty therapy, holistic and sports massage, and reflexology, with a strong focus on body treatments.
She also works within Kallidora Salon, where she continues to build her hands-on experience with clients alongside her teaching role.
Known for her direct yet supportive approach, Katarina brings energy and structure into her lessons, helping students stay focused while enjoying the learning process.
Her passion for massage and continuous development allows her to guide students in building strong practical skills and confidence.
Sonia – Reflexology Tutor
A gentle, holistic approach focused on balance, wellbeing, and mindful practice
Sonia is the Reflexology Tutor at Kallidora Academy and a former student of the academy. She is qualified in holistic massage and reflexology, with a strong focus on holistic wellbeing.
She has also gained teaching experience within a maderotherapy training environment, supporting her structured and supportive approach.
Known for her calm and gentle nature, she creates a relaxed learning environment where students feel comfortable and supported as they develop their skills.
